Going To "Period 8."

 Summary:

Okay, I'm going to be honest. This book is... AMAZING. So far. At first it was (again going to be honest) a bit disturbing, but I handled to control myself and got past it. Back to the "mini" summary. Period 8 is a class in which you're free to do pretty much anything. The only thing is, you have to be telling the truth. Paul, or Paulie, Baum is always telling the truth, no matter if it's his girlfriend , friends, or anyone. He tells his girlfriend, Hannah, that he had cheated on her with another girl. He then turns to his teacher, Mr. Logsdon, which has an open class in which students can express their feelings and their emotions. From the first day he joins the class, he spends his Period 8 with Mr. Logs. That's when he finds something out.  Paulie learns that sometimes the truth sometimes can lead to bad things. He then recalls when he broke up with Hannah.

Genre:

Many people might ask, "Why don't you talk about a genre of the book you're reading?" Well now you can tell what I am going to talk about in this mini subject. Genre. The Genre of this book is Realistic Fiction. This book has a great great feel to it and makes you think that it's real life. But It's not. That's a good thing about the book. Think about it? A school with similar rules. A student going through the struggle that Paulie is going trough. A class in which you can express you're feelings. That can happen in real life. Chris Crutcher, hand downs, makes you feel some type of way. That's why I would want to read more of his books.

Twisted Summary

Tyler Miller who is in high school, used to be the kind of kid that would lay back and fade away from people. Ever since he got caught doing graffiti on the school, and having to do outdoor work to pay it off, people see him different now. One of the people that sees him different is the Queen Bee, or his crush, Bethany Milbury. Everything seems to go well until she invites him to a party in which he has to drive her and her "date" back home. After that people start thinking of Tyler as a bad person for blaming that he posted in the internet "naked" pictures of Bethany. Was it him? Was it a host? Find out for yourself and see what lies ahead for Tyler.

You might already know what the conflict is, but shh don't tell anyone. If you DON'T, you're in luck because I'm going to tell you and give you examples, so don't complain (if you are). You might already know what one conflict is, Man vs. Society. Let me give you an example. He's going through suicidal thoughts. That mean he's going through bullying and/or something at home that's making him think of all these thoughts. Now do you have an idea? Okay good.

Call Of Duty

Wow, just WOW. This article left me speechless. The way that they give details that make you feel just if you were there in the scene. In the beginning it started out slow, like mostly every book, but once Jose, Zenit, and the team started the searched for the explosives, that's when it caught my eye. Zenit finding explosive after explosive. Until Jose took a step and everything turned black. Hearing about his early life and what he had to go through as a little kid really got me thinking of people that who didn't go through their life like that and still don't do anything with their life. One connection came to my head when they said that Jose had wanted to be back with Zenit. My uncle had to move back to Mexico and he had left his dog in Florida and he had told us he had miss him. This is one article I loved.

OMG, Twisted.

Summary:

Tyler Miller is a senior in high school and trying to get through the difficulties in his life. He's really not an outgoing person, always fading in the back ground. He is just trying to get through his final year but there is many things in his mind. Suicidal is one of them but with many things on his mind he decides to tag a wall. Finally gets caught and is going to start to work to get out of trouble. That must suck! I'm still curious what awaits him in the future.

Character Analysis:

I think that Tyler is a depressed and very stressful kid. I believe he is like this because of the things he does and thinks about. In the beginning of the book it talks about how he got arrested and how everyone would back away from him. "It was like I was wearing a strapped bomb on my waist."What I think that means is people don't see him fitting in anywhere after his arrest.

Still With Twisted.

Again With A Minor Summary:

SO. After my last summary, I've been getting into this book. Tyler, in my opinion, has been changing. Ever since he got caught tagging and having to do work has change the kid. Tyler is starting to lie this community service because of Bethany, his "crush". But her brother Chip tries to make Tyler's life miserable. Tyler gets all excited when Bethany invites him to a party. Everything goes well in the party until Chip tells Tyler to drive him, Bethany, and Chip's friend Parker. Bethany and Parker are making out! On snap. The next day pictures of Bethany appear on the Internet of her posed and naked. Everyone is blaming Tyler but little do they know it's him.

Point  of View:

The Point of View for Twisted is 1st Person Point of View. How can I tell? I'll tell you just keep on reading this. In the book, Tyler quoted, "I am filled with rage." He had said that after he saw Bethany and Parker making out when he was driving them home. It also uses me, I, we, mine, etc. Happy that I told you the point of view? Good.

The Treasure of Lemon Brown

Greg Ridley, a failing student in what the subject is known as math. His dad pushes him to try to do better so he won't fail the grade. After school he then decides to take a walk and go into a abandoned building. As he walking he see people but just continues to walk. He enters a room and he hears what appear to be a male yet Greg doesn't have sight in him. Then he appears and the man is wearing rags but proudly says his name, "Lemon Brown." They continue to talk when suddenly they hear other voices talking about Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown recognizes them as thugs that always go after him and both Greg and Mr. Brown hide. As the thugs try to look for the treasure of Lemon Brown, they search everywhere for him and Lemon Brown tries to scare them off until finally they left. Lemon Brown then tells Greg to go on home but to wait until the thugs leave. When Greg gets home, he rings the door bell and smiles knowing the lecture his dad is going to give him.

My reactions towards this book wasn't anything big but just WOW. A well known artist to be homeless? That left me surprised. I mean I kinda can already imagine that because many people were famous and lost all their money and are left with nothing or even just a little bit of it. Greg? Oh yeah him. In the beginning of the book he really didn't care about what anyone said about him. After meeting Lemon Brown, it all changed.I truly believe that Lemon Brown flipped a switch in Greg's mind.
